CHARACTER: Nellie Dawson, Preservationist. ABOUT: Nellie's a time orphan that was rescued from the sinking of the Titanic. She got involved with Jack Dawson a time bandit who was trying his darnedest to save the fate of the ship, failed anyway and was subsequently handled in front of her, how fun! Knowing far too much and having a very strong will to live, coming to the future was the obvious choice. She was 'orphaned' like 6/7 years ago, assimilated and went back to school, and has been with TEA for 4 years.
Nellie's got a case of :| face, a tendency to be blunt, and even after years of being here, misses her family. She likes to cook, is content to be dragged out with maximum protest because she knows its good for her mental health, and has barely concealed wanderlust.
STORYLINES:
She's part of Cris's girl gang, though she still doesn't know how that happened, so if your character has befriended Cris, they at least know Nellie. She's happy to be there, I swear, her face is just....frozen like that.
People she's foisted leftovers on before she ended up in her current living situation.
Former mentor or an intern she takes a liking to.
A travel buddy to go see new places and museums in near silence (it's golden).
Idk, anything else, it's late in ye olde EST and I'm tired.
teddy a) will be acquiring all time orphans as friends and b) also group bonding pls and ty, but also c) is part of cris's girl gang, so really nellie is stuck with her in every way possible
constance is racoon brained so she will accept all free food always. she's also well traveled if you need tips or recs but i bet she'd be awful to actually travel with lmao
Nell would for sure have been taking sneaky little notes if Constance ever talked about her travels and then quietly approached later about further recs
i have benny (undercard), a time wrangler! he is gruff but friendly and is a fellow time orphan! so they'll have that connection through the orphan potlucks/meetings/etc that teddy organizes.
i have jazz (historiographic), an intern and aspiring preservationist! she also has a case of :| face and is very blunt, but is also a big history nerd and will have a lot of questions about the titanic. also nellie is so pretty, so the acerbicness might get dialed down a lot.
i also have max at this journal! roommates! and also possibly intern cohorts but i need to check my math on that. he is bubbly and gregarious and has to get poked to do the dishes but he loves nellie :)
Raj asked her so many questions about her time but eventually he probably figured out she did not appreciate them. I was going to say he could be a travel buddy BUT he doesn't shut up so they might not mesh there ...
she is iffy on titanic specific questions, but era questions are fine by her! so Raj might have been on the receiving end of an unintentional melancholic story that she meant to be more of a fond little anecdote, whoopsies....
perservationist + time orphan = I'm sure her and Laurie have worked together and socialised together a lot between research and time orphan activities. he would love to silently visit museums with her
